Ketchum To Present Program

Sep 19, 2019 - 7:00 pm

Author and ultrarunner Penn Ketchum will present "Running, Recovery, and Mindfulness" at a book release hosted by the Parish Resource Center. The program will take place on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Road, Lancaster.

Ketchum will reflect on Psalm 23, how to find mindfulness in daily life, and his journey in recovery. Attendees will receive a free copy of his new book, "Psalm 23 (in other words)." Ketchum is both the illustrator and author of this brand-new title.

Ketchum started rethinking familiar prayers as a form of meditation during long training runs. As he found new words, he also found new insights. The book invites readers to look at this particular prayer differently.

Ketchum's journey with mindfulness and meditation was also dramatically affected by his involvement with a 12-step program in the 1980s, as he worked toward sobriety.

Ketchum, owner of Penn Cinema, was the 2018 Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year.
