Lori Koenig, DreamWrights Center for Community Arts' artistic director, was recently accepted as an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SDC) Society. SDC is the theatrical union that unites, empowers, and protects professional stage directors and choreographers throughout the United States. Koenig applied to be selected by the society.
Koenig moved to York in November 2019 to join DreamWrights. She oversees DreamWrights' mainstage and studio productions as well as its education aspects from workshops to summer camps, which began on July 6.
Koenig holds a Master of Fine Arts in theater and directing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Before moving to York, she had worked in North Carolina, Tennessee, California, Virginia, Minnesota and North Dakota. In addition to her many years of directing, she was a full-time English and creative writing teacher, an adjunct lecturer and a published poet.
