Labor Day Event Slated

Labor Day activities at Stone Gables Estate, 1 Hollinger Lane, Elizabethtown, will take place on Monday, Sept. 7, beginning at 4 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. Attendees may bring their own blanket or chair.

The purchase of a general admission ticket will include the following activities.

Self-guided tours of the Star Barn Village, which includes the historic and fully restored 1877 Star Barn and its associated outbuildings; the fully restored 1860 Ironstone Ranch; and the 1844 Herr's Mill Covered Bridge, will be available.

Other activities will include strolling the gardens, watching two remote-controlled World War II model battleships as they navigate Lake Liberty, "Walk and Talk in the Village" small group tours, updates about the National Christmas Center, the Reflective Oaks Prayer Walk, the Shepherd's Staff Zoo, pony rides, tractor-pulled wagon shuttle rides, the use of firepits, yard games, a scavenger hunt for children, music by Titus Touch, a Star Barn booklet, and fireworks at approximately 8 p.m.

The following activities are available for a fee.

A 1.2-mile, round-trip narrated train excursion on the Harrisburg, Lincoln and Lancaster Railroad will be offered. Train ride tickets will be available on-site during the event. Separate fees have been set for adults and for children ages 6 to 17. Chidren age 5 and under will be admitted for free. Train rides will depart at 4:15 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:45 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. Passenger capacity has been reduced by 50% to better accommodate social distancing.

Food concessions will be available for purchase. Souvenirs and gifts will be available for purchase at The Sower and the Seed Shoppe. Horseback rides may be available prior to the event. Proceeds from the event will go to Brittany's Hope, 1160 N. Market St., Elizabethtown. The public is welcome to attend. Stone Gables Estate will continue to take all necessary precautions for the safety of its staff, vendors, and guests.

Tickets for the event are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a general admission fee per vehicle. For larger vehicles with nine or more passengers, readers may inquire about pricing.
