LAPA To Present "Oliver!"

The Lancaster Academy for the Performing Arts (LAPA) will perform the musical "Oliver!" on Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 16, at 2 and 7 p.m. The performances will be held at Leola Elementary School, 11 School Drive, Leola.

"Oliver!" is based on "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens. The story takes place on the streets of London in the 1830s with Oliver Twist, an orphaned boy, as the main character.

The cast includes by Josiah Werner as Oliver, with Jeremiah Evans as the understudy; Jordan Beedle as Mr. Bumble; Jacquelyn Martin as the Widow Corney; Ethan Goss as Mr. Sowerberry; Megan Brubaker as Charlotte; Josiah Evans as the Artful Dodger; Silas Werner as Charlie; Zachary Etter as Fagin; Nolen Petrosky as Bill Sikes; Nikayla Blank as Nancy; Karis Blank as Bet; Gideon Werner as Mr. Brownlow; Elsa Rogers as Mrs. Bedwin; Liam Whitney as Doctor Grimwig; and Lenae Tortolano as Old Sally.

Bonnie Bosso is once again the director, with Jerel Frey as music director, assisted by Reji Woods, and choreography by Heather Grayberg.

Separate advance ticket prices have been set for people age 12 and up and for children ages 5 to 11. Tickets for children age 4 and under will be free. LAPA provides musical, theatrical, and fine arts instruction and performance opportunities with a goal of excellence in order to honor God and bless the community. Instruction through its choral, instrumental, fine art, and theater classes for children and youths is put to practice through concerts, trips and tours, summer camps, and full-scale musicals and plays.
