The Lancaster County Art Association (LCAA), 149 Precision Ave., Strasburg, has announced its schedule of fall classes and its upcoming exhibits. A variety of classes are available for people of all ages, from children to adults, and for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
The Flamingo Art Club will meet Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Taught by Sam and Kate Mylin, this after-school program is for children age 7 and up. Teen Open Studio will meet on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. and will be monitored by Elizabeth Stepenaski.
Adults can select from a variety of oil, acrylic and watercolor classes along with pastels, sculpture and clay.
Local artist Carol S. Herr will teach oil and acrylic painting classes, including "Introduction to Painting" on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; "Painting the Seasons" on Fridays, Sept. 27 to Nov. 1, from 9:30 a.m. to noon; and "Color Workshop for Painters" on Saturdays, Nov. 2 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jay Dombach will teach "Still Life Workshop" on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Karen Frattali will teach "Creating Luminous Landscapes in Watercolor" from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 10, to November. Tony Bonazzi will teach "Beginning Watercolor" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 1 to Nov. 5; "Getting Better Control in Watercolor" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 3 to Nov. 7; and "Correcting Mistakes in Watercolor" on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Henrietta Holton-Thomas will teach "Experimental Wet Watercolors" on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pastel artist Dot Stepenaski will teach "Passion for Pastels" from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays.
Holton-Thomas will teach "Sculpture Workshop" for creators of 3-D artwork on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Marilyn Morrison and Pat Reed will teach "Exploring Clay" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 25 to Oct. 16.
Local cartoonist Sam Mylin will teach "Basic Drawing" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 9 to Oct. 14, and "Cartoon Mania" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Oct. 21 to Nov. 25.
Plein air artists may check with the office for painting schedules on Mondays from 5 p.m. to dusk and on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
Lancaster County Art Association is a nonprofit organization that welcomes new members with an interest in exhibiting artwork, taking classes or promoting the arts.
