Ten Lower Dauphin High School (LDHS) students were accepted into the fall 2020 PULSE program at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine. The program is a one-semester course taught on Monday evenings virtually via the Zoom platform. Students will participate in a variety of lectures and activities with an emphasis on adolescent medicine taught by attending physicians and resident students.
The LDHS students accepted for the PULSE program are Ava Donohue, Brook Felker, Hannah Fischer, Katherine Foley, Benelli Risser, Brianna Risser, Drake Risser, Ryan Stoe, Kayla Troutman, and Caitlyn Umidi.
Five additional students were accepted into the Health Career Exploration Program for this school year. This program is highly competitive and attracts more qualified students than can be accommodated. A total of 16 students from LDHS, Hershey High School, Central Dauphin High School, and Central Dauphin East High School were accepted, including Jason Carver, Lauren Hunter, Abby Lauer, Brianna Risser, and Bridget Wappman from LDHS. Due to COVID-19, the students will not be able to participate in the hands-on program due to its cancellation.
