Learning Support Center Welcomes Students

A new Learning Support Center is being created at Stewartstown United Methodist Church to provide a safe and nurturing supervised learning environment for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

The church's child-centered approach will focus on fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence as students navigate their online classroom and work through their school assignments. Opportunities to make new friends, develop new skills, and enjoy recreation will also be provided.

The daily schedule is the same as many local schools - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with options for attending up to five full days per week. All children will be assigned to a learning cohort of six or fewer in order to comply with state regulations regarding COVID-19 and social distancing. Parents will give the staff the details of the student's course information, assignments, and times the student must be online to see their home school's teacher present lessons. The staff will develop a plan based on each student's needs. They will then support them in completing online coursework, homework, and projects. Social activities such as art, music, and recreation will be provided.

More details about the Learning Support Center, including enrollment, staffing, and cost, can be found at http://www.stewartstownumc.org or by emailing LearningSupport@StewartstownUMC.org. Due to the small group size, space is very limited. Readers may register at http://www.vbspro.events/p/9e335c.
