The Historical Society of Dauphin County (HSDC) will present a lecture and book signing on Sunday, March 13, at 1 p.m. at the John Harris-Cameron Mansion, 219 S. Front St., Harrisburg. In this lecture, Scott L. Mingus Sr. will discuss his most recent book, "A Carnival of Grief, The Lincoln Funeral Train in Pennsylvania."
Illustrated with more than 100 period sketches, photographs, illustration, and maps, his book adds to the current historiography of Abraham Lincoln's assassination and funeral observances. Mingus will talk about the funeral train's journey through Pennsylvania and will also be available for book signings after the lecture. Artifacts from the funeral train's stop in Harrisburg will also be on display from the HSDC collection.
Admission to the program is by donation. HSDC members are admitted for free. Copies of "A Carnival of Grief" will be available for purchase at the lecture. For details, visit http://www.dauphincountyhistory.org.
