Susquehanna National Heritage Area will host a lecture series to explore the stories and themes behind its current exhibit, "A Look Back at Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping on the Susquehanna River," at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St. These lectures will be held on the Riverview Deck.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., and light refreshments will be available. Lectures will begin at 5:30 p.m. There is a fee per lecture, with a discount for the full series.

The series will begin with "Conestoga Fur Trade" on Friday, June 25. The presenter will be Donald Kautz, a local photographer and the author of the new book "The Conestoga River: A History." He will speak on the history of the fur trade in the Susquehanna watershed, particularly along the Conestoga River.

"Exhibit Collection" with Lynn Smoker will be presented on Friday, July 9. Smoker is a local amateur historian and collector who was instrumental and creating "A Look Back at Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping on the Susquehanna River." He will speak on the hunting, fishing, and trapping traditions in the local area.

Van Wagner, a folklorist, musician, and educator from the Lewisburg area, will present "Songs and Stories of the Susquehanna" virtually on Tuesday, July 20. Participants may watch the event via Zoom from their homes or come to Columbia Crossing to watch a livestream on the 55-inch screen in the exhibit hall. Those who choose to watch at home will receive the Zoom link when they purchase a ticket.

"Lower Susquehanna Decoys" will be presented on Friday, Aug. 6, by Jeff Van Brookhoven, an author and collector of antique duck decoys.
