York County Libraries (YCL) will offer a variety of free outdoor story times and activities for children and families across York County this fall. The weekly schedule includes story times geared to babies, toddlers, and preschool children. The programs will be held outside on library grounds and at community parks as weather allows. The full schedule is available by searching for "story time" at http://www.yorklibraries.org/events.
YCL story times include reading, music, and more. The programs follow Pennsylvania's Learning Standards for Early Childhood.
Families planning to attend outdoor story times this fall may want to bring a blanket or chairs as an easy way to sit together as a family group. Some of the outdoor locations have picnic tables, so YCL youth services director Jaclyn Cassidy suggests that parents contact their library's youth services coordinator to find out what to expect. YCL recommends that all participants age 2 and up wear a mask and physically distance as individual family groups during the programs.
