On Aug. 13, Manheim Community Library began offering a new Browse to Go service in addition to an expanded Library to Go service. The expanded services are part of the library's commitment to serve the public while maintaining the safety of staff and patrons while the library remains closed.
As part of the Browse to Go service, patrons may sign up for a 30-minute appointment to browse select materials at the library's off-site location at the former ambulance building at 26 E. High St., Manheim. Browse to Go is available on Thursdays from 3 to 7:30 p.m. The service is available for at-risk individuals on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. At this time, only one person will be admitted for browsing during the 30-minute time slot. The library plans to expand the service to include family appointments in the near future. Patrons must wear a mask, practice social distancing, and comply with applicable regulations and guidelines. To register for an appointment, readers may visit http://www.manheimlibrary.org/events.
With the Library to Go service, the Your Pick option has been removed from the online form. Specific items from Manheim Community Library or any of Lancaster County's public libraries may now be requested using the Library System of Lancaster County's holds system. Pickup will be at the Library to Go location.
Patrons may use the Library Pick option to have library staff make personalized selections based on responses made at http://www.manheimlibrary.org/library-to-go.
Holds and Library Pick materials may be picked up at the Library to Go location anytime during regular hours on or after the scheduled pickup day.
The book drop will remain closed at this time, and patrons who checked out books before the library closed have several options. Customers who are picking up a request are encouraged to return books during their scheduled appointment. Patrons not picking up materials may return items during Library to Go service hours at the off-site location. Fines accrued during the quarantine period will be waived through Monday, Aug. 31.
Library to Go hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, as well as 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Users can park in the municipal parking lot and access services through the Wolf Street entrance marked Library to Go.
