Library Announces Summer Program Schedule

The Hershey Public Library has announced its summer program schedule. Due to COVID-19 precautions, all programs at the Hershey Public Librsry will be held online until further notice. Anyone who visits the library in person is required to wear a mask in the building. Community members are asked to observe all library notices regarding health and safety, as well as signs to assist with social distancing within the building.

The library is planning Summer Quest, its virtual reading challenge for children and teenagers. The theme is "Imagine Your Story," and the challenge will feature fairy tales, mythology and fantasy. Readers may sign up online through http://www.beanstack.com; the link will be accessible at http://www.hersheylibrary.org.

On Tuesdays from June 16 to July 21 at 1 p.m., there will be virtual music and storytelling events sponsored by the Friends of the Hershey Public Library. The programs are for children in kindergarten through grade five. Teenagers may also participate in online activities, and details are forthcoming.

Community members may visit the library's Events Calendar at http://www.hersheylibrary.org to sign up for Books & Babies; 1, 2, Whee!; Chewsy Readers; Furry Tales; and Lego Club. Virtual children's programs will run from Monday, June 15, to Thursday, July 23. Dates and times will vary.

The Hershey Public Library will offer its inaugural Adult Summer Reading Program for anyone age 16 and over. Attendees will be invited to read books and participate in activities. They may sign up online at http://www.beanstack.com through the library's website at http://www.hersheylibrary.org starting.

The Art of Truth: A Writing Class on Creative Nonfiction will be offered at 3:30 p.m. on Sundays, June 28 to Aug. 2. Participants may choose to write a memoir, an essay, a biography, an epistle, a lyric essay, a meditation or a combination of several genres.

Lebanon Valley College history professor Michael Schroeder will present Fighting Fake News on Monday, June 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. The workshop will be hands-on.

Bob Watson will present a discussion on his book "The Nazi Titanic" on Saturday, July 11, from 2 to 3 p.m. Watson is an award-winning author and historian, who has published more than 40 books on topics in history and politics.
