The Friends of the Lititz Public Library will offer a bus trip to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, May 8, as a fundraiser for the library. Stops will include the Library of Congress and the Washington National Cathedral. The bus will depart from the Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, at 7 a.m. and return to the library at 6:45 p.m.
The bus trip will include a one-hour walking tour of the Library of Congress. Attendees will learn about the library's history, symbolic art and architecture. On the drive from the library to the National Cathedral, participants may enjoy their own packed snack or light lunch. In addition, homemade cookies and water will be provided.
Participants will then take a one-hour tour of the cathedral. Afterward, they will partake of a traditional English tea, including sandwiches, scones, and sweets, in the seventh-floor Pilgrim Observation Gallery in the St. Paul Room of the cathedral's South Tower. The room affords a scenic view of Washington, D.C. If time and weather permit, participants will also take a short walk through the Bishop's Gardens on the cathedral property.
Tickets are available for purchase only at the library. For more information, readers may call 717-626-2255.
