Library Friends Present Donation

For the last 20 years, the Friends of Elizabethtown Public Library have been raising money to donate to the library through their annual book sales and etownbooks, the Friends' bookstore. In 2021, despite the pandemic and reduced operating hours, the Friends raised almost $30,000. The Friends recently presented a check for $23,000 to the library, and they also brought in over $6,500 in credit card sales.

In attendance at the check presentation were library board member Dave Kraft; Friends president Lowell West; library board members Mike Hench, Susan Zeager, and Jeff Winterborne; Friends treasurer Janet Hench; library board member Cathy Hecker; Friends secretary Pat Casper; and Friends members Laurie Shaffer and Rhonda Friese.

The 2022 spring book sale will take place during library hours from Thursday to Saturday, April 7 to 9.

The etownbooks store, located just inside the front entrance of the library, offers many categories of gently used books, including children's, fiction, nonfiction, history, romance, classics, and cookbooks. Both hardbacks and paperbacks are available. In addition to books, the store offers DVDs for children and adults, a wide variety of music CDs, and crafts by local artists. These crafts include paintings, photographs, ornaments, jewelry, and clothing. Handmade doll clothes for 18-inch and 13-inch dolls, such as American Girl dolls, Bitty Baby dolls, and Wellie Wishers are also available year-round.

All items sold in the store and at the annual spring and fall book sales were donated by members of the public. The bookstore's hours match the library's hours. All etownbooks workers are volunteers, and all proceeds earned at the store are donated to the library. Anyone interested in volunteering may stop by the library's front desk for an application.
