Library Offers Programs Online

The Eastern Lancaster County Library's building is closed until further notice. Its top priority is the safety and well-being of patrons and staff. Because of the current library closures, it has instituted many changes to its library services. All in-person events have been canceled until Sunday, May 17. No materials will be due before Friday, May 15. Patrons are asked to not return their items until the library reopens.

All events and services are currently provided online. All events and activities can be found by searching for "Eastern Lancaster County Library" on Facebook. Library information is also are available on Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.

All of the library's electronic resources, including e-book and e-audio collections, will continue to be available at https://lancasterlibraries.overdrive.com/ and http://online.lancasterlibraries.org/.

Patrons whose library cards do not work may email Heather at hsmith@elancolibrary.org. Individuals without library cards may apply for one. They may email the aforementioned address and they will receive instructions on how to obtain a library card during the closure.

The library aims to provide resources and tools for lifelong learners. It has compiled a list of things to do, learn, and enjoy while patrons are at home. Readers may visit http://www.elancolibrary.org/at-home-learning-resources for more information.

Classics with Carla is offered for people of all ages at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays. Ms. Carla will post videos of herself reading classics. She is currently reading "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery. To find the videos, readers are invited to search the library's YouTube channel.

Friday Frolic is offered for children of all ages but is geared for 1- to 3-year-olds. It includes songs, stories, and fun. The program is available on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook Live, but it is not recorded.

Virtual Dungeons and Dragons will take place as a virtual session on Friday, May 1, from noon to 2 p.m. Beginners are welcome, but are advised to contact cbarrows@elancolibrary.org if they need help with building a character sheet. How to ... Series is offered for people of all ages but geared for adults on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. During each session, participants will discover a new online resource. Videos are also uploaded to YouTube.

Bedtime Stories with Ms. Heather for people of all ages will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. Participants will join in a livestream story time on the library's Facebook page as Ms. Heather reads some of her favorite picture books.

Preschool Storytime is offered on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for children of all ages but is geared for 3- to 6-year-olds. Preschoolers are invited to enjoy themed books, songs, rhymes, or movement activities. This program is livestreamed on the library's Facebook page.
