Library Plans Activities

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

A variety of programs will be available to children, youths and families. These programs will be held outside, weather permitting.

People of all ages may pick up a Milanof-Schock Mile punch card at the library and have a library staff member mark their card each time they walk the mile route. Rewards are available after 10 punches.

Get Ready 4 Kindergarten will be offered for children ages 4 and 5 on Tuesdays, Aug. 3 to 17, at 10:30 a.m. Elementary school children age 8 and up may bring a lunch and the book they are reading to Lunch Bunch at noon on Tuesdays, Aug. 3 to 17. People of all ages may attend Lego Challenge on Aug. 3 at 6 p.m.

Family Story Time will be held on Wednesdays, Aug. 4 to 18, at 10:30 a.m. The last themed STEM class of the summer will be available to children age 7 and up on Thursday, Aug. 5, at 10:30 a.m.

Readers' Theater, a program for children age 7 and older, will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. Participants should be able to read at a first-grade level. The children will present a performance at 11:45 a.m.

Fun Family Book Bingo will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m.

Back to School Is Cool! will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. This event will feature a family story time and an activity.

Families may bring blankets and flashlights to the library for Fun Fort Friday on Aug. 13 at 5 p.m.

The Summer Reading Program will end on Saturday, Aug. 14. Participants should turn in their reading sheets and pick up their prizes by 1 p.m.

Children age 7 and up may join in Art in the Park on Monday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m. People of all ages may attend Snorey Time Story Time on Aug. 17 at 6 p.m., and pajamas may be worn.

Youth Yoga to Calm Anxiety will be led by a local private yoga teacher on Friday, Aug. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Children age 9 and up may participate, and space is limited. A parental waiver must be signed at the front desk. Participants should bring water and a yoga mat if they have one.

Youths ages 12 to 19 may participate in the virtual Teen Zine Tuesday featuring Eric Bell on Aug. 3 and 17 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The Adult Summer Reading Olympics will end on Friday, Aug. 27.

Interest groups for adults include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Aug. 9 and 23, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club on Aug. 21 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; and A Gathering of Artists Club on Aug. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. Also, the Northwest Book Club will discuss "The Scent Keeper" by Erica Bauermeister on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m.

The Friends will meet on Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

People of all ages may participate in Make-It Monday - Rock On with Morgan on Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. Attendees will paint stones to be placed in the library's flowerbeds and flower boxes.

The Lit Lovers Book Club has returned to meeting in person, and the next session will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m. Teens and adults may meet to discuss "The Other Einstein" by Marie Benedict.
