Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all library programs are free and require preregistration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510. Online registration is encouraged.
The library will return to its regular hours beginning in September. The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It will be closed on Fridays and Sundays.
Giant will offer two classes for children. Mini Chefs Mornings Virtual Classes, recommended for children age 6 and under, will take place on Mondays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Junior Chef Creations Virtual Class, recommended for children and youths ages 7 to 18 years, will be available on Wednesdays from 4 to 4:30 p.m. In both programs, children will learn to make healthy snacks. Hank Learns About Germs, a prerecorded virtual program offered in partnership with CHI St. Joseph's Children's Health, will be available on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. The link for this story time in on the library's calendar at http://www.mslibrary.org.
Story Time with Miss Jan will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 9 to Oct. 1. Families are invited to enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week. Space is limited.
Cinema Saturday, slated for Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m., will feature a family-friendly movie. Attendees may bring a snack. Space is limited.
Home School Art Classes for children age 7 and up will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Children will create theme-inspired art based upon the works of a particular artist. Space is limited to 20 participants.
An on-site STEM in a Sack project will be led by Miss Jan on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each child will receive a bag with the materials for that day's project and will learn about the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) element involved before using their materials to do a project. The event is for children age 7 and up, and space is limited to 20 participants.
Lunch Bunch will meet on Saturday, Sept. 26, at noon. Children should bring a blanket or towel, a packed lunch and beverage, and the book they are currently reading. Miss Jan will provide dessert and will introduce a mystery guest. Attendees will try to guess the visitor's career. The event is for children age 7 and up, and space is limited to 20 participants.
History Mystery will be presented on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. In this new homeschool program, children learn about a real event in history and try to solve a mystery. The event is for children age 7 and up, and space is limited to 24 participants.
Programs have also been scheduled for adults.
At Closely Knit, knitters and crocheters socialize and work on individual projects. No registration is necessary. The group will meet on Mondays, Sept. 14 and 28, at 1 p.m.
The Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club will gather on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The club is open to all stitchers, from beginner to experienced. Anyone who is new to cross-stitching may purchase a simple cross-stitch kit at any local craft store and bring it with along so other club members can help them get started.
Artists and crafters are invited to bring an individual project to work on at A Gathering of Artists Club on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. Painters are asked to leave oil paints at home.
Make-It Monday - Decorative Book Folding will be offered on Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. Attendees will learn a simple technique to fold the pages of a hardcover book to create a heart design. All materials will be provided. The program is open to people age 14 and up, and it is limited to 12 participants.
