Library Plans Programs

Adamstown Area Library, 3000 N. Reading Road, Adamstown, has posted its schedule.

The library is open for curbside pickup. In order to keep patrons and staff safe, pickup will be arranged by appointment only, following social distancing guidelines. Patrons may place orders by calling 717-484-4200, through the electronic form at https://adamstownarealibrary.org/curbside2020/, or by emailing info@adamstownarealibrary.org. People should include their name, phone number, and library card number to identify them for checkout. Up to five items can be reserved at a time.

Library hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The library is closed on Tuesdays. The book drop is open 24 hours for returns.

The Summer Reading Program will run through Saturday, Aug. 15. Participants can sign up at https://lancasterlibrariespa.beanstack.org/reader365 and track their progress online.

The library presents daily activities with Miss Jess, live bedtime stories, weekly craft videos for adults and teenagers, and more on its Facebook page, which may be located by searching for @AdamstownAreaLibrary. New York artist Michael Albert will demonstrate how to make pop art collages during Modern Pop Art Experience and Collage Workshops. Pre-recorded videos will be posted on Fridays, July 24, July 31 and Aug. 7, at 2 p.m. on Facebook, and Albert will present a live session on Friday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. on Zoom. People should register by visiting http://www.adamstownarealibrary.org and clicking on "Events" so they may receive the meeting link for the live workshop.

The Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will present The Story of Johnny Appleseed and Cider-Making on July 24 at 10 a.m. on Facebook. This event will be recorded and available on the library's Facebook page through Thursday, July 30.

Michael L. Reist, The Amazing Magi, will present "Once Upon a Reader: Fairytales, Myths, Imagination and the Magic of Reading" on Monday, July 27, at 6:30 p.m. on Facebook. Reist will use comedy, storytelling, a Darwin the Confused Dragon puppet and magic. The video will be posted on the library's Facebook page.
