Library Plans Renovation Project

Kaltreider-Benfer Library in Red Lion has announced it will expand on the Charles Street side of its building and to the rear. Glass and windows will line the two new sides of the building to provide more natural lighting and to improve lighting efficiencies. The 19-year-old structure will expand to 14,000 square feet and will be renovated and repurposed during the construction phase. It will feature dedicated children's and teenage program spaces and an expanded open service area.

The library's project is part of a plan that involves renovation and expansion for three libraries, also including Martin Library and Kreutz Creek Library.

A team of community volunteers is rallying support for the project, which includes matching dollars from state grants. Individuals who want to learn more about the York County Libraries' "Imagine. Discover. Connect." campaign may visit http://campaign.yorklibraries.org.
