Columbia Public Library, 24 S. Sixth St., Columbia, will offer a variety of programs and activities to the community. Events are free and open to the public. The library will be closed all day on Monday, Feb. 17, for a staff training.
Travis Lehr, Columbia Borough census representative, will be at the library on Tuesdays and Fridays to meet with people interested in census employment opportunities. Visitors can learn about available job positions for the 2020 Census and the application process.

The Nifty Needles Knitting Club will meet on Thursdays at 7 p.m. People of all skill levels are welcome. Instruction will be provided for beginners.
Homeschool Happenings will begin meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18. The program is open to children ages 5 through 14.
Crochet Along with Kasey will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 18. Attendees should bring a size H or I crochet hook and a skein of medium weight worsted yarn in a color of their choice.
A Job Fair Boot Camp will be held on Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. and on Monday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. The program will cover a multitude of job fair essentials, including how to dress, what to bring to an interview, and what to say during interviews to highlight one's positive attitude and potential contributions.
The Middle School Book Club will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The group will meet in the library at Columbia High School at 1:50 p.m. to discuss "Ali Cross" by James Patterson.
Kala Denlinger from Simply D-cluttered will present a program on how to tackle clutter and regain space at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20. Participants will discuss what is standing in their way, how to overcome those roadblocks, steps to decluttering, and tips on maintaining a tidy home.
Tiny Tales will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The program is for babies from birth to age 2 and their caregiver. This story time will occur every other week on Wednesday morning.
Chair Yoga and Pilates will be offered on Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. The program is part of the Prime Timers Series and will offer gentle stretches and exercise that can be done from a chair.
Friends and Fines, formerly called Food for Fines, will focus on needs of the Columbia Food Bank at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Hands Across the Street Transitional Living Shelter on Fourth Street. Library patrons can receive credit toward their library fines by donating certain items needed by the food bank or the shelter.
Patrons will receive $1 off their fines for each box of Hamburger Helper that is donated and $2.50 for each manual can opener donated. Patrons will receive $5 off their fines for each large-sized bottle of laundry detergent and $3 off for each new pillow in its packaging. Donations must be used for fines only and may not be used to replace lost or damaged books or collection agency accounts.
