Library Posts Event Calendar

The Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, will offer a variety of activities to the community. Registration is required. For more details and registration information, readers may contact 717-786-1336 or visit http://www.quarryvillelibrary.org.

Two activities will be held on Saturday, March 16. A Lucky Shamrock Candle program will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and a Shepherd's Pie Cooking Class will be offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend either class.

On Tuesday, March 19, Participants will learn the basics of invasive plant control from biologist Ryan Davis during Invasive Species Management from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Eclectic Readers Book Sharing Group will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. Each participant will bring a different book and share a brief description of the book and their thoughts and recommendation. Attendees should contact the library at 717-786-1336 or library@quarryvillelibrary.org with their name, contact information, and the title of the book they will be sharing with the group.

The Writer's Series - Writing Believable Characters will be offered from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26. In the first session of this series, author Carol A. Park will cover the topics of creating three-dimensional main characters, conveying character motivation, building character arcs, conveying emotions, and how a chosen point of view affects the characters.

The Importance of Seeds: A Longwood Gardens Community Read Program will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. Participants will discuss Thor Hanson's book "The Triumph of Seeds" with Kris Barry. The program will discuss how each part of a seed has a unique and important role to fill in the life of the plant. Participants will also learn tips and tricks for starting seeds at home in anticipation of the garden season. A seed exchange will follow the discussion, so attendees should bring their extra seed packets.
