On Saturday, Nov. 2, a chess tournament will be held. The tournament is open to chess players of all ages and skill levels. The tournament will be a rated chess event, so current United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership is required.
Animal Signs will be presented by Lancaster County Parks and Recreation on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. The program focuses on tracks, scat, and other signs left behind by animals that may be used for identification. Participants will explore the library's riparian buffer and see how many animal signs they can find. Registration is not required. A seminar titled "Staying Safe on Our Roads Today" will be presented by Penn State Health in collaboration with the Derry Township Police Department on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. During the 90-minute program, presenters will discuss topics such as how to help aging drivers; the driving, vehicles and roads of today compared to those of previous times; and changes and updates to driving laws.
Spirit Wing will present Native American folk music at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17. The performance will feature folk and acoustic music, including traditional Native songs from hundreds of years ago.
Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank will hold a blood drive at the library on Monday, Nov. 25. Donors will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Donors must bring a form of ID and have eaten within a four-hour period prior to donating.
