Adamstown Area Library, 3000 N. Reading Road, Adamstown, will offer a variety of activities to the community. Registration is required for most programs. Several story time programs will be offered for young readers. An adult caregiver must accompany children to each program. Program activities will include stories, songs, rhymes, crafts, finger plays, and more. Preschool Story Time, for children ages 2 to 6, will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., except for Nov. 26 and 27. The Lapsit Program will meet on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and is open to babies up to age 2. Toddler Story Time, for toddlers ages 2 to 3, will take place on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
Amelia Bedelia Costume Character Story Time will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. Bedtime Stories will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 13, and attendees are encouraged to wear their pajamas.
The CHI Brush Twice-a-Day Challenge will continue through Monday, Dec. 9. Participants are reminded to drop their cards off every week in order to qualify for prizes.
International Games Week will run from Sunday, Nov. 3, through Saturday, Nov. 9. Games will be available at the library all week long. On Monday, Nov. 4, Duplo and Lego free play will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon. Drop-in Family Game Night will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. On Thursday, Nov. 7, Teen/Tween Video Game Night will run from 7 to 8 p.m.
Restaurant Week will be celebrated from Nov. 4 through Friday, Nov. 8. During the week, participating restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds to the library.
Technology Night will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m. Registration is required to receive assistance with technology problems and questions.
The library will participate in Jumpstart's Read for the Record at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. People around the world will read the same book on the same day to raise awareness about the importance of early literacy. This year's book is "Thank You, Omu!"
Cuddle and Read with Hank the French Bulldog will be held on Nov. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m. No registration is needed, and the entire family is invited.
The Bucks for Books dinner and auction will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Foxchase Golf Club in Stevens. The Friends of the Adamstown Area Library's benefit fundraiser will include dinner, live and silent auctions, and more. Walk-ins are welcome after 6 p.m. at no charge. Get Your Brick On! will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the Lego Club. Participants will make individual creations based on a provided theme. The event will conclude with a teamwork project.
The library board of trustees will meet on Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The Genealogy Interest Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, and is open to older students and adults.
An American Girl program, "Fall in With Felicity," will begin at 4 p.m. on Nov. 14. Children ages 6 to 12 will make a loom and enjoy Felicity's fall festival. Space is limited, and registration is required.
A walk-in craft program will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. Children may stop into the library anytime during the program to make and take home a seasonal craft. No registration is needed.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new library will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. The event will include a short ceremony and light refreshments.
STEM: MakeIT AAL will be held on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. for participants age 7 and older. The program will feature creative free play as well as planned activities. Registration is required.
A Grocery Scavenger Hunt will take place at Weaver Markets on Route 272 on on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. Participants will meet in the snack bar area. Children will choose a play food item and then locate the real item in the grocery store. A snack will follow.
The Mystery Guest Book Club will gather on Nov. 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants should bring along a book to discuss with other children in the club. Attendees will play "20 Questions" to guess the job of a mystery guest.
Medicare enrollment assistance by APPRISE counselors will be offered on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Appointments are required. Mindful Yoga with Jenny Bones will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will explore and discuss ways to keep calm and remain present during this busy time of year, including breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises that can be done throughout the day. The library will participate in the Extraordinary Give on Nov. 22. Donations made during the giving event will be stretched by funds through the Lancaster County Community Foundation and its sponsors. A poetry program will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Attendees will create blackout poetry. If anyone has a poem to share with the group, they are encouraged bring it along.
A Financial Aid Overview and FAFSA Completion program will be offered on Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. Attendees will learn how to apply for financial aid.
