The Here We Dough food truck will be at the library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20. Food trucks will also visit the library on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The trucks will be Brotherly Love Scratch Kitchen and MAR's Delights on July 14, G's Concessions and Premium Shaved Ice on July 21 and The BBQ Trough and La Belle Bouchee on July 28.
Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the Library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
Child, youth, and family activities will include Family Story Time on Wednesday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m.; Sidewalk Chalk Art on Monday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon; Art Class in the Park, for children age 7 and up, on July 18 at 1:30 p.m.; Fun Family Book Bingo on Tuesday, July 19, at 6 p.m., with space limited; Adventures with Baby on July 19 at 10:30 a.m., with space limited; and Lunch Bunch every Tuesday at noon.
A Teen 'Zine Virtual program featuring author Alison Green Myers will be offered via Zoom on July 19 at 4 p.m. for youths ages 12 to 19.
The "So You Want To Be A ..." series will be presented at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday in July. Each week, a different guest will share about his or her job. The guests will be Eastland Alpacas on July 14, Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department on July 21 and Cylo, the Barnstormers' mascot, on July 28.
During Story Time with Hank the Health Hero, attendees will learn how to fight germs and keep their bodies strong and healthy. This program will occur on Wednesday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m.
Talewise STEM Pirates - Lost at Sea will be offered on July 14 at 6 p.m. for children age 7 and up. Volunteers from the audience will be invited to help with science experiments.
Families may also visit the library for Fun Fort Friday on July 15 from 5 to 6 p.m. Attendees may bring blankets or sheets, flashlights, and a drink. Space is limited.
Families can make bubbles during Bubble Fun on Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m. Phredd Ukulele One Man Band will perform at the library on July 20 at 10:30 a.m. Drumming with Tammi will take attendees on a virtual trip to West Africa on Friday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m.
During a Storm Water and Stream Health program on Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m., Penn State Extension Master Watershed Steward William McFee will talk about plastic pollution and keeping local waterways healthy. The program will include a craft.
Children may wear pajamas and slippers and bring a stuffed buddy to Summer Snorey Time on July 28 at 6 p.m.
The Adult Summer Reading Challenge - "Every Day's a Holiday" - has begun. Participants must read or listen to a book that meets the weekly challenge based on a fun holiday, and they can complete the weekly entry form to be eligible for the weekly prize. Everyone who participates for even one week can be eligible to win the grand prize.
Programs for adults will also include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Monday, July 25, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Quilt Study on July 13 at 12:30 p.m.; Northwest Book Club on July 13 at 6 p.m.; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on July 16 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Adults-Only Book Bingo on July 20 at 2 p.m., with space limited; A Gathering of Artists Club on July 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Make-It Monday - "Repurposed Jewelry" on July 25 at 6 p.m.; and Lit Lovers Book Club on Tuesday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m.
The Adult Game Night group is taking a break for the summer and will gather next on Wednesday, Sept 7, at 6 p.m.
Milanof-Schock Library's 20th annual benefit auction will take place on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is free, but attendees may purchase food at on-site food trucks. Proceeds will help to support the library.
