Library Posts June Activities

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

The library is not currently accepting book donations. Beginning Tuesday, June 21, gently used books and media may be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Food Truck Thursdays will be held weekly at the library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June dates and trucks are June 16, Next Level Pizza; June 23, Cupcakes by Casey, The BBQ Trough, and Pet Wants Lancaster; and June 30, Papa Sneaux and La Belle Bouchee.

The library is now open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Summer hours will continue until September.

This year's Summer Reading Program has the theme "Oceans of Possibilities." Reading packets will be available at the library throughout the summer.

Child, youth, and family activities will include Family Story Time on Wednesdays through June 29 at 10:30 a.m.; Art Class in the Park, for children age 7 and up, on Monday, June 20, at 1:30 p.m.; Fun Family Book Bingo on June 21 at 6 p.m., with space limited; and Adventures with Baby on June 21 at 10:30 a.m., with space limited; Sidewalk Chalk Art on Monday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to noon; and Lunch Bunch on Tuesday, June 28, at noon.

The "So You Want to be a ..." series will be presented at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday in June. Each week, a different guest will share about his or her job. Represented organizations will be Fire Department Mount Joy, Eastland Alpacas, Columbia Animal Shelter, Master Gardeners, and Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Department.

Families may also visit the library for Fun Fort Friday on June 17 from 5 to 6 p.m. Attendees may bring blankets or sheets, flashlights, and a drink. Space is limited.

A program about and demonstration of radio-controlled planes is planned for Saturday, June 18, at 10 a.m.

Children may wear pajamas and slippers and bring a stuffed buddy to Summer Snorey Time on June 23 at 6 p.m.

The library will host a Mini Makerfest on the side lawn on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. Attendees may observe and interact with Makers as they create their art or crafts. Josh Betty will play acoustic guitar music.

During Teen Characters and Comics on June 28 at 1:30 p.m., youths will learn a fun and easy approach to comic book art from author Keville Bowen. The program is limited to 15 people age 9 and up.

Programs for adults will also include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Monday, June 27, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on June 18 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; A Gathering of Artists Club on Wednesday, June 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.; Lit Lovers Book Club on Tuesday, June 26, at 6:30 p.m.; and Make-It Monday - "Cricut Design Space" on June 27 at 6 p.m.

The Adult Summer Reading Challenge - "Every Day's a Holiday" - has begun. Participants must read or listen to a book that meets the weekly challenge based on a fun holiday, and they can complete the weekly entry form to be eligible for the weekly prize. Everyone who participates for even one week can be eligible to win the grand prize.
