The Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, will offer a variety of programs and activities for children, teens, and adults. There is no cost to participate, unless otherwise noted. Toddler Meet-Up will take place on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The casual meet-up for parents with children ages 1 to 3 will take place in the Early Literacy Lab and will offer an opportunity for toddlers and their parents or caregivers to meet others and play. Siblings are welcome to attend.
Study Buddies will offer an opportunity for children to improve their spelling and reading skills with the help of volunteers from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. on Wednesdays. Children should bring their spelling and/or vocabulary lists or a book to read for practice. Space is limited to eight participants. Walk-ins will be accommodated only if space permits. The program is open to children ages 5 to 10.
Preschool Meet-Up will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays. The casual gathering is open to children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers. The program will meet in the Early Literacy Lab.
Nursery Rhymes and Puppets: A Grow the Seed of Learning Workshop, will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, and is open to children ages 2 to 4 and their parents or caregivers. The classes will offer tips on early childhood education in a playful environment. Local medical and school district professionals will present the classes. Advance registration is required by calling 717-529-2181.
Family Movie Night will take place on Thursday, March 7, at 6 p.m. The event will feature free popcorn and a PG-rated movie. People of all ages are welcome to attend.
Wee Readers, a Family Story Time, will include a mix of stories, crafts, songs, and activities. The program will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Fridays, March 8 and 22. The program is open to children ages 1 to 5 and their caregivers.
A Teen Leadership Group meeting will be held from 4 to 4:30 p.m. on March 8. Teens interested in planning, promoting, and running programs and activities for children and teens at the library are encouraged to attend. Meetings are open to youths ages 13 to 19.
A Talent Show sponsored by the Teen Leadership Group will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Participants may compete in three categories - Most Unique, Most Mainstream, and Grand Prize. All kinds of talents are encouraged. The winner will receive a prize.
Teen Dungeons and Dragons Club will meet from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays, March 9 and 23. Youths ages 12 to 19 are invited to participate.
On Wednesday, March 13, Learn Spanish with Solanco High School students will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. The program will be offered every other Wednesday through May 22. The workshop is limited to 20 participants. Walk-ins will be welcome as space allows. The program is geared to children ages 7 to 10.
On Thursday, March 14, Parachute Play will offer fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for children ages 1 to 3 and their caregivers. Parachute Games will be held from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. and will provide songs, rhymes, and games for children ages 3 to 6 and their caregivers.
On Saturday, March 16, Teen Board Games will take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. People ages 12 to 19 are invited to bring their favorite board games to share and play with others.
STEM Mobile - Robotics will be presented by the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on March 16 for children ages 6 to 12. The program is limited to 25 participants. Walk-ins will be accepted as space allows.
STEM Saturday will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23. The program is designed to get children and families excited about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). It is best for children ages 8 to 12. Participants will complete hands-on activities using kits they may keep at the end of the session. The program is limited to 12 participants, and walk-ins will be welcome as space allows.
