Library Posts Program Slate

Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, will sponsor a variety of programs and activities in February. Programs are free and open to the public. Several story time programs will be available. Baby's First Story Time, designed for children from birth to age 17 months, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 4 and 18. Wee Readers, a story time for young children and their caregivers, will meet from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Fridays, Feb. 7 and 21, and will include a mix of stories, crafts, songs and fun. Sing! Sign! Story Time! will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for children from birth to age 6 and will feature stories and songs to teach basic American Sign Language (ASL) baby signs to children and their caregivers.

The Young and the Restless will take place each Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program is open to toddlers accompanied by an adult. Children will build literacy skills while having fun with books, rhymes, felt boards, puppets, dancing and crafts.

Family Movie Night will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Movies will be rated G or PG, and popcorn will be provided.

Several programs will be designed specifically for teenagers age 13 and older. On Feb. 7, the Teen Anime Club will meet at 4:30 p.m. to watch anime, enjoy snacks and socialize. On Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 4:30 p.m., the library will host Teen Chef Creations: Banana Breakfast Sushi. With help from a nutritionist, teenagers will create a balanced snack. In addition, the Dungeons and Dragons Club for youths ages 12 to 19 will meet from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 8 and 22.

Pre-K Meet-Up will meet on Tuesdays, Feb. 11 and 25, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The program will offer children ages 3 to 5 and their parents an opportunity to play in the Early Literacy Lab and meet other children, parents and caregivers. Older and younger siblings are welcome.

Junior Chef Creations: Strawberry Mozzarella will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 for children ages 6 to 12. A nutritionist will teach children the basic skills for creating a balanced snack. Children under age 8 should be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited.

Parachute Games will be offered to children ages 3 to 6 with a caregiver on Thursdays, Feb. 13 and 27, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. It will include songs, rhymes and games to keep children moving, laughing and having fun.

The local Coder Dojo Group will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 13 and is open to individuals ages 7 to 17. The event is free, and registration is required if the attendee will use a laptop from the library.

Go-Fore Golf will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to play a round of miniature golf to support the library. The event is sponsored by A&A Auto Sales & Service and the Law Office of James Clark, with entertainment sponsored by PNC Bank and the cafe sponsored by Stoner Inc. Tee times are available by contacting the library, which will not be open for regular business or passports on Feb. 15.

Lego and More Block Bonanza will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20. People of all ages are welcome, but the program is best suited for children age 5 and older.

A Grow the Seed of Learning Workshop, for children ages 2 to 4 and their caregiver, will take place at 5 p.m. on Feb. 25. This session's topic will be "Social and Emotional Development." Advance registration is required by visiting http://www.planttheseedoflearning.org or calling 717-529-2181.

Oh, Snap Circuits! will take place at 6 p.m. on Feb. 27. The program is open to children age 8 and older and those ages 5 to 7 with an adult. Participants will learn fundamental physical principles such as polarity, contact, current, and series vs. parallel and short circuits while working with experiments.

Mini Chef Creations: Strawberry Minnie Bows will be offered to children age 5 and under with a caregiver from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb, 28. A nutritionist will provide children with basic skills for creating a balanced snack. The program is limited to 15 participants.
