Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all library programs are free and require preregistration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510. Online registration is encouraged.
The library has returned to its regular hours. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It is closed on Fridays and Sundays.
Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
Story Time with Miss Jan will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 8 to 22. Families are invited to enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week. Space is limited.
STEM in a Sack, featuring an on-site science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) project, will be available to children age 7 and up on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each child will receive a bag with the materials for that day's project. Children will learn about the STEM element involved and then use the materials in the bags to do a project. Space is limited.
Homeschooled students age 7 and up may participate in History Mystery, set for Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Participants will learn about a real event in history and try to solve a mystery. Space is limited.
Fun Family Bingo for people age 7 and up will take place on Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.
Giant will offer two classes for children. Mini Chefs Mornings Virtual Classes, recommended for children age 6 and under, will take place on Mondays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Junior Chef Creations Virtual Class, recommended for children and youths ages 7 to 18, will be available on Wednesdays from 4 to 4:30 p.m. In both programs, participants will learn to make healthy snacks. The library will hold Golden Hours for Senior Citizens beginning in October. Senior citizens are invited to visit the library one Friday morning each month when the library is closed to the community. Seniors may browse, check out books, and take advantage of other library services. This month, Golden Hours will take place on Oct. 9 from 9 to 11 a.m.
At Closely Knit, knitters and crocheters socialize and work on individual projects. No registration is necessary. The group will meet on Mondays, Oct. 12 and 26, at 1 p.m.
The Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club will gather on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The club is open to all stitchers, from beginner to experienced. Anyone who is new to cross-stitching may purchase a simple cross-stitch kit at any local craft store and bring it along so other club members can help them get started.
The library will host Pumpkin Pandemonium on Monday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. Community members may bring a pumpkin to the library and decorate it using provided materials. Pumpkins should not be carved during this event. Space is limited for each session.
Artists and crafters are invited to bring an individual project to work on at A Gathering of Artists Club on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Painters are asked to leave oil paints at home.
Make-It Monday - What's Your Sign will take place on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. Attendees will create a custom wooden sign. The wooden board and supplies will be provided, and attendees will choose the words and colors. Registration is required by Oct. 19. People should specify their sign color and words at registration. Space is limited.
Adults are invited to play bingo at the library Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. Small prizes and a grand prize will be offered. All bingo supplies will be provided by the library. Space is limited.
