Library Posts Schedule Of Activities

Kreutz Creek Library, 66 Walnut Springs Road, York, will offer a variety of activities. Details and registration are available at http://www.yorklibraries.org. Information is also available by calling the library at 717-252-4080.

The library continues to offer lobby pickup only. Items may be picked up on Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library's fall book sale and puzzle sale will take place on Friday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Public Works building across from the library. All proceeds will benefit Kreutz Creek Library. The Friends noted they will not have a puzzle swap this fall, but hope to bring the event back in the spring of 2022.

The last day to complete the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge for this year is Wednesday, Sept. 1. Anyone who finishes after this date may take part in the 2022 celebration. This year's celebration will be held in October; details are forthcoming.

Miss Felicia's Story Time at Flinchbaugh's Orchard & Farm Market will be offered on Tuesdays, Sept. 14 to Oct. 26, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Story times will be held under the Orchard Pavilion, rain or shine, and attendees should park in the grass lot marked "Overflow Event Parking." Face coverings and social distancing recommended.

September's Monthly Grab & Go Activities for children ages 3 to 8 will focus on International Dot Day, Wednesday, Sept. 15. Community members may stop by the library on or after Sept. 1 to pick up the supplies. Those who return their creations to the library will be entered into a drawing for a copy of the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds.

Grade One at the Library (GOAL) will kick off in September. This initiative introduces children to the books, programs and computer resources available through a library membership. All first-graders in York County schools will receive an information packet and a form to apply for a new membership and a library card at their local libraries. Each child will receive a prize to take home for their first three visits to the library.

The following tween programs will be offered virtually to youths ages 9 to 12: the Danger Club, Sept. 14 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., and the Library Squad, Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Registration is required.

People ages 13 to 18 who are interested in taking part in project-based volunteering may email kreutzcreeklibrary@yorklibraries.org or call Jennifer at the library.

A Summer Read - You Belong: With Us, originally scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Dover Community Center, has been postponed.

An separate event featuring Sebene Selassie, author of the A Summer Read selection, "You Belong: A Call for Connection," will occur on Monday, Oct. 11. Details are forthcoming.

TechTime will be offered by phone on Thursday, Sept. 16, from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m. To receive assistance learning to use a new device, fixing problems, protecting a device, downloading books and more, call 717-846-5300 and ask for the tech specialist.

Mystery at the Library/Virtual Author Event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. Attendees will visit with author Jonathan Santlofer. Reservations are required.

The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library Branch Support Group will meet on Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the upper pavilion in Emig Park.
