Kreutz Creek Library (KCL), 66 Walnut Springs Road, Hellam, has announced its schedule of upcoming programs for September. The Friends' Used Puzzle Swap will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees may purchase a jigsaw puzzle for a for a nominal price or swap one of their own. Any remaining jigsaw puzzles will be available for sale at the used book sale.
The Friends' Fall Used Book and Jewelry Sale will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Public Works Building, located across Walnut Springs Road from the library. In addition to books, the sale will include baked goods, jigsaw puzzles and gently used jewelry.
Go Quackers in the Park is scheduled for Sept. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Emig Park, 2 Buttonwood Lane, Hallam. The event is sponsored by the library and Hallam Borough. Special events will include a Preschool and Early Elementary Story Time with Miss Felicia and other special guests at 1:15 p.m., as well as the rubber duck race at 2 p.m. Other activities will include a children's book swap, a gift basket drawing, duck crafts, Name That Duck, a duck quacking contest, and a duck goose tournament. Participants may adopt a duck to enter in the race; ducks may be purchased in advance at the library or at the event while supplies last. KCL also seeks donors for the purchase of bags of ducks. The duck race is hosted by the KCL Youth, and proceeds will be used to purchase an item to enhance the teen space in the new library location.
Babies and Toddlers Story Time with Miss Lisa, for children from birth through 3 years old with a caregiver, will be offered at 10 and 10:45 a.m. on Mondays, Sept. 23 and 30. Registration is required.
Preschool Story Time with Miss Felicia, for children ages 3 to 5, will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 23 and 30, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. The program will include a story and a craft. Registration is required.
Wee Build Wednesdays for children ages 3 to 5, will be offered from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 11 and 25. Wee Build STEM materials will be available for use to enjoy hands-on learning with your young children.
The LEGO Builders' Club will meet on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The club is open to children age 6 and up. Participants may take on a provided challenge or build something from their imagination.
The Danger Club with Miss Jennifer, for youths ages 9 to 12, will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Library Squad, for youths ages 9 to 12, will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Tweens will be able to shape library programming for their age group.
On Thursdays, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 4 to 6 p.m., Teen Time will allow teenagers, those ages 13 to 18, to gather for hangout time and conversation at the library.
The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library Branch Support Group will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 5:30 p.m. The group welcomes fresh ideas and suggestions for activities to be held throughout the year.
The Knitters and Crocheters group meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. People of all skill levels are welcome, and group members will help others learn to knit or crochet. Attendees should bring needles and yarn. Knitters and crocheters may bring their current projects to work on. The group will meet from 6 to 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 17.
Tech Time will take place on Sept. 19 from 4 to 5:45 p.m. York County Libraries' technology specialist will answer attendees' technology questions and showcase one or more of the library's digital resources that are available for use.
The Green Thumb Garden Club will host a program on Sept. 12 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Melanie Markowski, NGC Garden Study Consultant, will present "Feathers, Flowers, and Seeds for Songbirds and Hummers." The Garden Club offers a program on the second Thursday of each month.
The Cookbook Discussion Group will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss famous chefs' cookbook recipes. The group meets every other month highlighting recipes with a special theme. Participants may bring their own prepared dish and a copy of their recipe and share in the taste-testing with other cooking enthusiasts.
