"Tails and Tales," the Summer Reading Program, will begin soon at the Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz. The program will run from Saturday, June 5, through Saturday, Aug. 14.
The program will feature activities, opportunities to earn badges and prizes through reading, and more. Four age levels are available: the Read Aloud Program for children birth through age 4, Junior Program for children ages 5 to 9, Tween Program for youths ages 10 to 12 years, and Teen Program for those ages 13 to 19.
The online Summer Fitness Quest will also begin on June 5 and end on Aug. 14. Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to join. This initiative is a Get Outside physical activity program to support and encourage a healthy lifestyle of youths and family members, and specifically to extend learning and instill in young children an appreciation for the outdoors. The program supports free opportunities for children and adults to visit and enjoy the natural beauty of Lancaster County parks, trails, and nature preserves.
Adult Summer Reading Book Bingo for readers age 18 and older will also be offered. Adults will keep track of the books they read from June 5 through Wednesday, Sept. 1, by matching the books with squares on their bingo card. Book titles may only be used once per card, and there may only be one entry per person. A book bingo card may be picked up at the library. A printable version is also available at http://www.lititzlibrary.org. Prizes will be awarded.
