The Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, will offer a variety of programs and activities for children, teenagers, and adults. There is no cost to participate, unless otherwise noted. Preschool Meet-Up will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. The casual gathering is open to children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers. The program will meet in the Early Literacy Lab.
Play With Me! for parents and children from birth to age 3 will be offered on Wednesday, April 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. Children will play with developmentally appropriate toys in a play group setting while parents meet with community experts in the areas of child development, speech and language, nutrition, play, movement, and music.
Study Buddies will offer an opportunity for children to improve their spelling and reading skills with the help of volunteers from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. on Wednesdays. Children should bring their spelling and/or vocabulary lists or a book to read for practice. Space is limited to eight participants. Walk-ins will be accommodated only if space permits. The program is open to children ages 5 to 10.
Family Science Night will present Circuit Design for families with children ages 8 to 12 on Wednesday, April 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. During a night of hands-on science experimentation, students and their caregivers will build a take-home battery-powered electronic game. Students will explore the fundamentals of a simple series electric circuit. A project-based learning activity will follow. The program is hands-on, using kits that attendees will get to keep. Space is limited to 24 participants and their caregivers, so registration is preferred. Walk-ins are welcome as class size allows.
Wee Readers, a family story time, will include a mix of stories, crafts, songs, and activities. The program will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19. The program is open to young children and their caregivers.
The library will be closed on Saturday, April 20.
On Thursday, April 25, Parachute Play will offer fun with a parachute plus silly songs and rhymes from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for children ages 1 to 3 and their caregivers. Parachute Games will be held from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. and will provide songs, rhymes, and games for children ages 3 to 6 and their caregivers.
Longwood Gardens Community Read Story Time for children ages 3 to 6 will take place on Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m. The library will read "The Reason for a Flower" by Ruth Heller, learn a song, make a craft, and plant a seed.
Teen Dungeons and Dragons Club will meet from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Youths ages 12 to 19 are invited to participate.
