Library Programs Scheduled

The Summer Reading Club continues at the Dauphin County Library System with online story times, book clubs and special educational programs planned for people of all ages. Readers may register for programs at http://dcls.org.

Once Upon a Toon with Joe Wos for children age 6 and up will take place on Thursday, July 16, from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Wos will draw, cartoon, and tell a story simultaneously. The program will also include a guessing game and a time for questions and answers. Registration is required. A Zoom link and instructions will be sent to participants before the program. The library's programs for tweens and teenagers will continue with book clubs and the Dungeons and Dragons group. Registration is required. Instructions on how to join and participate will be emailed to participants prior to each program.

Build Your Own Book Club, for people ages 11 to 14, will be offered on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and on Mondays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Participants will discuss different genres, authors, and characters. Weekly discussions will be held on Zoom. Weekly themes, genres, characters and more will be posted on Google Classroom.

Dungeons and Dragons for people ages 13 to 18 will meet on Fridays from 3 to 5 p.m.

Programs for adults will be held on the "Adult Programs at The Library" group on the "Dauphin County Library System" Facebook page and at http://www.dcls.org/BeyondTheShelves.

Armchair Traveler is posted by 11 a.m. on Mondays at http://www.dcls.org/BeyondTheShelves. Participants will learn about history and culture, take virtual tours, and receive book, movie, and music recommendations.

Writer's Workshop meets on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Participants may visit the "Adult Programs" Facebook group for a new writing prompt inspired by the Summer Reading Program theme, "Imagine Your Story." When ready, they may share what they have written in the comments.

Mid-Day Get Away is posted by 2 p.m. on Fridays. Attendees may check the "Adult Programs" group for a video created by the library staff. Videos will range from cooking tutorials to art demos to musical performances.
