Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, was named a Gold Star Library by PA Forward, a division of the Pennsylvania Library Association. The library was recognized for offering quality programs within the five Literacies: basic, information, financial, health, and social and civic.
A reception was held by the library's board of governors on Jan. 24. In attendance were local business owners, supporters, board members, York County Libraries staff, and dignitaries Dan Moul, Chris Reilly, and Carrie Nace, representing Kate Klunk's office.
Founded in 1911, Guthrie Memorial Library has a history of providing free and low-cost programs for the community to help shape the stories of local children, teenagers, adults, seniors, and families. The library is an accessible-to-all learning and gathering space, serving as a resource for information, recreation, literacy support, and lifelong learning.
