Library Sets Holiday Events

Dec 03, 2019 - 6:30 pm

The Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, has posted several holiday events.

The library will offer a Holiday Family Story Time themed "Who Will Guide My Sleigh Tonight?" on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. The event, for children of all ages with a caregiver, will feature reindeer-themed stories, songs, and a craft. To preregister, readers may call the library at 717-626-2255.

The library will hold its annual Holiday Happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 7 and 14. The event will feature a model train display, a visit from Santa, a family craft activity and a children's holiday-themed film that will be shown every half-hour during the event.

Santa will make an appearance from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 7 and 14 to listen to children's wishes. At 11 a.m., Santa will read his favorite holiday storybook, "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clarke Moore, to attendees.

The library will offer a model train display from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, and Thursday, Dec. 12, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 14. Lavon Stauffer, Greg Phillips, and friends will have their model trains up and running in the community room.

A library table will be decked with children's library materials that may be purchased to commemorate a teacher, a grandparent, or another special person. A commemorative bookplate will be placed in each book purchased. The book will then be added to the library's collection.

For those who are unable to attend on Dec. 7 or 14, the selection of children's books for purchase or donation will be available through mid-December.

The library will collect new mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, earmuffs and umbrellas for local children. Members of the community may bring in these items to decorate the annual Mitten Tree.
