Library Sets Schedule

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programming. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require preregistration. Readers are encouraged to register online at http://www.mslibrary.org or by calling the library at 717-653-1510. More information is available by calling or visiting the library.

The library's summer hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The library will be closed on Sundays.

The Summer Reading Program is underway, and children may stop by the library to pick up reading logs and register for programs. The library is also offering a summer reading activity for adults.

Wee Build Free Build, set for Friday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m., will offer an opportunity to build with various materials.

Family Story Time will be offered on Monday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the former First National Bank building, 100 Market St., Marietta. Families may enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week.

Lego Club, for people of all ages, will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11. Legos will be provided.

Sing, Shake, and Sway Story Time, set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, will encourage children to interact and move to songs and stories.

Hank the Health Hero - FOOD! will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 13. Sponsored by CHI St. Joseph Children's Health, the program will highlight whether Hank makes good health choices.

During STEM - Rocket Man, set for 6 p.m. on Thursdays, June 13, 20, and 27, children in grades three through six will build an actual rocket from everyday materials. Rockets will be launched on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m.

Fun Fort Friday will be held on Friday, June 14, at 5 p.m. Families may come to the library after hours and build a fort among the bookshelves. Attendees should bring their own blankets, and Miss Jan will provide the rest.

The character Pout-Pout Fish will visit the library on Monday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. during story time with Miss Jan.

Art in the Park will take place outside, weather permitting, on Tuesday, June 18, at 1 p.m. Students age 7 and up will have the opportunity to create a piece of art using inspiration from a featured artist and media style.

Fun Family Book Bingo has been set for 6 p.m. on June 18. Attendees are asked to bring a light snack to share.

Families are invited to learn about alpacas and pet them on Wednesday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m.

That Fabulous Franklin, a presentation of the wit and wisdom of Benjamin Franklin for people of all ages, will take place on June 20 at 10:30 a.m.

During Readers' Theater on Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m., attendees will prepare themed, short, readers' theater pieces and perform them for a small audience of family members.

Chalk Day has been set for Monday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held outside, weather permitting. People of all ages will decorate the library's sidewalks with colorful drawings.

For Lunch Bunch on Tuesday, June 25, at noon, attendees may bring a lunch and the current book they are reading. There will be a mystery guest.

Sing and Sign Story Time, during which basic American Sign Language is incorporated, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27.

Read With Kirby will offer struggling readers an opportunity to practice reading aloud to Kirby, a Westie and certified therapy dog. Kirby will be available on Mondays at 6 p.m. Individuals should call Miss Jan to register.

The next few gatherings of Dark Order Teen Anime will give teenagers age 13 and up an opportunity to learn the role-playing game Legend of the 5 Rings. The next session will take place on Saturday, June 15, at 6 p.m.

Closely Knit, a group for avid knitters or those who aspire to knit, will meet at 1 p.m. on June 10 and 24. Attendees may knit or crochet individual projects, and no registration is necessary.

The Friends group will meet on June 10 at 6:30 p.m. New members are always welcome.

Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club typically meets from 10 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of each month; however, this month the group will meet from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on June 15. All stitchers, from beginners to the ultra-experienced stitchers, can bring their supplies. Those who are new to the hobby can obtain a simple cross-stitch kit at a local craft store, and one of the experienced club members will provide assistance.

The book discussion group focused on the classics will discuss "Song of Solomon" by Toni Morrison on Monday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. The Lit Lovers book discussion group will discuss "The Line Becomes a River" by Franciso Cantu on Tuesday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m.

The ABCs of CBD will be presented by Tyler Ashley on June 17 at 6 p.m. The informational program will be free, but registration is required.

All writers, whether recreational or professional, are welcome to work on their current projects or write to prompts by facilitator Ingrid Andersen during the Writers' Circle at 6 p.m. on June 24.

Make-It Monday at 6 p.m. on June 24 will focus on building a blank book. People age 14 and up will create a blank book to use for journaling, scrapbooking, and more. The class will be led by April Homerski, president of the Library's Friends' group, who will provide all materials for each participant to create one personalized blank book. Space is limited. Those who sign up and then realize they cannot attend are asked to notify the library.
