Library Sets Youth Programs

Quarryville Library, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, will offer a variety of programs and activities throughout July for children, youths and their families. Pre-K Meet-Up will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24. The casual gathering is open to children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers. The program will meet in the Early Literacy Lab. Older and younger siblings are welcome.

Toddler Meet-Up will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays, Sept. 4 and 18. The casual gathering is open to children ages 1 to 3 and their caregivers. The program will meet in the Early Literacy Lab. Older siblings are welcome.

Family Movie Night will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The library will show a free G- or PG-rated movie and serve popcorn. People of all ages are welcome. The program is held on the first Thursday of every month.

Wee Readers, a family story time, will include a mix of stories, crafts, songs and activities. Hank the Health Hero and his friend will read a special book all about teeth. The program will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6. The program is open to children ages 1 to 5 and their caregivers.

Teen Anime for youths age 13 and up will take place on Sept. 6 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Participants will watch anime, eat snacks and socialize. The anime will have a PG, PG-13 or TV-14 rating.

A new toddler program will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays, Sept. 11 and 25. The gathering is open to children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers. Activities will include books, rhymes, felt boards, puppets, dancing, and crafts. Registration is requested and space is limited. Other family members are welcome.

Baby's First Story Time for children birth to 17 months with a caregiver will take place on Wednesdays, Sept. 11 and 25, from 1 to 2 p.m. Other family members are welcome. Registration is requested; walk-ins will be accommodated as space permits.

On Thursdays, Sept. 12 and 26, Parachute Games will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and will provide songs, rhymes and games for children ages 3 to 6 and their caregivers.

Sing! Sign! Story Time for children birth to 6 years with a caregiver will be offered on Friday, Sept. 13, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Other family members are welcome. Stories and songs will be used to teach basic American Sign Language (ASL) baby signs to children and their grown-ups, a few signs at a time. Registration is requested, and space is limited.

A program on catapults for children ages 8 to 12 will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The monthly series of programs focuses on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The Teen Dungeons and Dragons Club will meet on Saturdays, Sept. 14 and 28, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. This club meets twice monthly.

Teen Board Gaming for those ages 12 to 19 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees may bring their favorite board games to share with the group.

The Teen Leadership Group will meet Sept. 21 from 2 to 3 p.m. to plan, promote, and run programming for children and teenagers at the library. The group also recommends materials for purchase, including books, games, and movies, and makes suggestions about new and existing services. Registration is not required, and snacks will be provided.

The Bookmobile will stop at the Pleasant Valley Store, 420 Sproul Road, Kirkwood, on Monday, Sept. 23, from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.

PA CareerLink Lancaster County will offer career counseling at the library on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. To schedule a complimentary appointment, readers may call 717-509-5613.
