The library will close for Independence Day on Thursday, July 4.
Knitting Club will meet on Mondays, July 1 and 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. The program is not a class or instruction time, but a friendly gathering where people work on knitting projects. Attendees must bring their own supplies. Crocheters are also welcome.
Scrabble Meet-Ups, for which attendees are asked to bring their own boards, will take place on Monday, July 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County will meet on Tuesday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m. Attendees should note that the day and date deviate from the regular schedule.
The Painting Club will meet on Wednesday, July 10, at 12:30 p.m. Attendees should bring their own painting supplies. The group usually meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, but there will only be one meeting in July.
The Great Decisions Discussion Group will meet on July 10 at 6:30 p.m. Those interested in foreign affairs are invited to join this moderated, nonpartisan discussion group.
A CD release concert by Fire in the Glen will take place on July 10 at 6 p.m. The trio features Tom Knapp on fiddle, bodhran, and vocals; Melissa Brun on vocals and cello; and Dave Pedrick on guitar and vocals. Preregistration is requested.
The Lancaster Civil War Roundtable will meet on Thursday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. Daniel Welch will present "Rally 'Round the Flag: Colorbearers at Gettysburg."
Yoga at the Library will take place on Monday, July 15, at 10 a.m. Weather permitting, the class will be held outdoors on the library grounds. The class is appropriate for adults and teenagers of all abilities. Participants may bring a mat if they have one and a water bottle. Some mats will be available to borrow. Preregistration is requested.
The Jane Austen Society will meet on Tuesday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to enjoy a cup of tea and discuss all things Austen.
The Genealogy Club will meet on Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. The club will offer tips and techniques for researching one's family tree.
The Launies will perform on Thursday, July 25, at 6:30 p.m. Bringing together fiddle, guitars, and mandolin, the Launies play music of the British Isles in a blend of traditional and contemporary songs. Preregistration is requested.
Linda Oatman High, an author of books for children and teens, will present "Writing by the Light of the Moon," a creative writing workshop for age 10 and up on Monday, July 8, at 1 p.m. Using glow sticks and novelties, the workshop will include prompts related to the moon.
Block Play for children age 3 and up will be offered on July 15 at 10 a.m.
Book Buddies for children ages 3 to 8 will meet on Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23 and 30, at 10 a.m. Participants will hear a story as a large group, then read with their buddies and make a craft together. American Legion Garden Spot Post 56 will sponsor the event. The group will not meet on Tuesday, July 2.
The North Museum of Nature and Science will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the mission to the moon at a program for students in grades three and up on Thursday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m.
Kilene Knitter, Giant Food Stores nutritionist, will present Mini Chef Monday, a free cooking class for children age 6 and under, on Monday, July 22, at 1 p.m. Mini Chef Mondays provide children with the basic skills needed to create a balanced snack. Summertime Sundaes will be the first class. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Space is limited. The food to be prepared includes gluten and dairy products.
The library will present a program on robotics for students in third through sixth grades on Wednesday, July 24, at 1:30 p.m. Participants will use real robots and learn how to code to make their robot move. Space is limited.
Freaky Friday for children of all ages will take place on Friday, July 26, at 1 p.m. Activities will include a story and several hands-on stations that relate to the theme.
Story Time With Hank for children age 7 and under will be offered on Monday, July 29, at 10 a.m. Hank the Health Hero will help children learn about their bodies as they look, listen, touch, and smell. Space is limited.
Neill Hartley will portray Charles Lindbergh in "The Spirit of Lindbergh" for children age 5 and up on Wednesday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m.
