Library Slates Virtual Programs

Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, will offer several virtual programs in September. Registration is required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. For programs held via Zoom and Google Meet, information on how to log on will be provided once registration is complete. Unless noted otherwise, readers may visit http://www.hersheylibrary.org under Events to register or for more information.

Watercolor Magic will be offered via Zoom on Tuesdays, Sept. 8, 15, and 29, from 7 to 8 p.m. Participants will explore watercolor with Marie Gamon from the Hershey Area Art Association (HAAA). Registration is available by visiting http://www.hersheyart.org/class-registration.

Now Submit! An Introduction to Publishing Your Writing will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 3 p.m. The class will discuss reasons to publish and answer some preliminary questions about the process of submitting creative work. The class will meet virtually using Google Meet, and registration is available at http://www.eventbrite.com. For more information, readers may contact Aly Tran at atran@derrytownship.org.

Arabiqa: Drums and Dance From the Arab World, a virtual children's program sponsored by the Friends group, will take place on Sept. 13 from 2 to 3 p.m. Karim Nagi will introduce participants to Arab culture.

A Hershey trivia event will be held via Facebook Live, Zoom, and Kahoot at http://www.facebook.com/hersheypubliclibrary on Sept. 13 from 4 to 5 p.m. Questions will be asked about Milton Hershey, The Hershey Company, and the town. Registration is not required.

Early literacy programs for the very young will go virtual for the fall. Books and Babies, for children from birth to 12 months, and story time, for children ages 3 to 5, will be held on Facebook Live at http://www.facebook.com/hersheypubliclibrary. The programs will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, and Thursday, Sept. 17. 1, 2, Whee! for children ages 12 to 36 months will begin via Zoom on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 10 am. Registration is not required.

The library will hold a virtual program, Finance in COVID Times, from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 14. Michael J. Fedash, senior private client wealth adviser with Members 1st Investment Services and Wealth Management, will discuss debt consolidation, review mortgages, and share about personal budgets and insurances. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and look at personal situations.

"Heroes of Flight 93" will be presented virtually from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, by Mal Fuller, an air traffic controller for 40 years. Fuller was the watch supervisor in the control tower at the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport on Sept. 11, 2001, when Flight 93 crashed into the field in Somerset. This program remembers the heroes on Flight 93.
