Library To Offer Events, Resources

The Adult Book Club will meet at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, to discuss "The Other Wes Moore." For more information, readers may contact Patti at pfischer@columbiapubliclibrary.org.

Giant will offer free virtual nutrition classes to the community. Classes are available in a variety of topics, including Family Meals at 5, Diabetes Management Series, Weight Management Series, Heart Health Series, Mini Chef Mornings, and Junior Chef Mornings. Tiny Tales Story Time will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, at 10:30 a.m. The program is open to babies up at age 18 months with a caregiver. The program will feature stories, songs, and fun and will be held at Locust Street Park. Adults and siblings over age 2 must wear a mask during the program. Participants should bring a blanket to sit on, and families will be socially distanced for safety. In the event of rain, the program will be held on Monday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. The library's story time podcast is available at http://www.columbiapubliclibrary.org/storytime.

Bingo for Grownups will take place through Monday, Nov. 30. Individuals may stop by the library to pick up a bingo card featuring 25 genres and types of books. Adults who read five books fitting in five categories in a row on their bingo card will be entered into a drawing for prizes from local merchants. Participants have until Nov. 30 to read the books.

Miss Lisa is available to provide virtual Read Alouds to classrooms on several platforms, including Zoom, Google Meet, and Blue Jeans. Stories appropriate to the children's age group will be selected. To set up a Read Aloud, readers may contact lgreybill@columbiapubliclibrary.org or 717-684-2255.

The library is selling canvas tote bags embroidered with its logo. The totes may be used for books, groceries, and other essentials. To purchase a tote bag or other library merchandise, readers may visit http://www.columbialibrary.deco-apparel.com. Proceeds will benefit the library.
