A community blood drive will be held on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot. A form of ID is required to donate.
A free community paper shredding event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mount Joy will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot. Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to the Mount Joy Food Bank.
Read With Kirby will offer struggling readers an opportunity to practice reading aloud to Kirby, a Westie and certified therapy dog. Kirby will be available on Mondays at 6 p.m. Individuals should call Miss Jan to register.
Family Story Time will be offered on Monday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the East Donegal Township Municipal Building, 190 Rock Point Road, Maytown. Families may enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week. Family Story Time will also be held in Marietta at the old First National Bank, 100 W. Market St., on Monday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m.
Homeschool Spanish, a basic conversational Spanish class, will meet on Tuesdays, April 2, 9 and 16, at 2 p.m. The class is for children age 7 and up.
Sing, Shake and Sway Story Time is set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, April 3 and 17, and Thursdays, April 4 and 18. It will encourage children to interact and move to songs and stories.
Preschool Super Science will be held on Tuesday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m. Miss Jan will lead themed science experiments or activities relating to the lives of 3- to 6-year-olds.
Lego Club, for people of all ages, will take place at 6 p.m. on April 9. Legos will be provided.
Family Story Time will be held on Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. Miss Jan invites families to enjoy stories, songs and a craft based on a theme of the week.
STEM Club, for children age 7 and up, will be offered at 6 p.m. on April 11. Participants will turn 2-D instructions to 3-D thinking using Keva Planks for creative building.
Fun Fort Friday will be held on Friday, April 12, at 5 p.m. Attendees will build a family fort among the bookshelves, read inside and have a snack. They are asked to bring their own blankets or sheets and a flashlight.
Fun Family Book Bingo has been set for 6 p.m. on April 16. Attendees are asked to bring a light snack to share.
Sensory Story Time will be offered on Tuesday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. The program is geared toward children ages 3 to 5 who are differently abled, who may be on the autism spectrum, who have sensory processing issues or who feel overwhelmed by noises or crowds. A time of monitored social play will be available afterward. Registration is required, and space is limited.
Sing and Sign Story Time, during which basic American Sign Language is incorporated, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, April 24 and 25.
The next few gatherings of Dark Order Teen Anime will give teenagers age 13 and up an opportunity to learn the role-playing game Legend of the 5 Rings. The next session will take place on Saturday, April 13, at 6 p.m.
A game night for adults will take place on April 1 at 6 p.m. Attendees may bring games.
Closely Knit, a group for avid knitters or those who aspire to knit, will meet at 1 p.m. on Mondays, April 8 and 22. Attendees may knit or crochet individual projects, and no registration is necessary.
The Friends group will meet on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. New members are always welcome.
The book discussion group focused on the classics will discuss "Slaughterhouse-Five" by Kurt Vonnegut on Monday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m.; the group's May selection will be "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London. The Lit Lovers book discussion group will discuss "The Radium Girls" by Kate Moore on Tuesday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m.; the group's May selection will be "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque.
"Maytown, Queen City of Donegal" will be the first in a three-part My Hometown series on April 15 at 6 p.m. Presenter Bob Lescalette will talk about the history of Maytown.
Make-It Monday on April 22 at 6 p.m. will focus on card making. Participants will make three different handmade cards. Presenter Kathy Bistline will provide all materials and will offer tips and suggestions on making cards for all occasions.
All writers, whether recreational or professional, are welcome to work on their current projects or write to prompts by facilitator Ingrid Andersen during the Writers' Circle at 6 p.m. on April 22.
