The library will be closed on Tuesdays, Dec. 24 and 31, and Wednesdays, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1, 2020.
The Knitting Club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Dec. 2 and 16. The club is for people who knit and like to share the craft and gather to work on projects. Participants will need to bring their own supplies. Crocheters are also welcome to attend.
Holiday Happening will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 7 and 14. The event will include crafts, a children's holiday-themed film, and a table with children's library materials that can be purchased to commemorate someone special.
The library will offer a holiday train display from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 14 and from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, and Thursday, Dec. 12. The public is welcome to see the model train displays set up by Lavon Stauffer, Greg Phillips, and friends.
Scrabble Meet-Ups will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants may bring their own board and meet with others for casual games of Scrabble. The club will meet only one time in December.
The History Book Club will meet on Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. The group will discuss "Brigham Young: American Moses" by Leonard Arrington.
The Great Decisions Discussion Group will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m. Those with an interest in foreign affairs are welcome to join the moderated, nonpartisan discussion group. No special knowledge is required for this informal discussion forum, just an inquiring mind.
Mini Chef Creations for children age 5 and under will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. Nutritionist Kilene Knitter will present free children's cooking classes. The classes aim to provide children with basic skills needed to create a balanced snack. Space is limited to 15 children. Registration is required for all classes.
Parachute Play for children ages 3 to 5 will be offered at 9:30 or 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16, or Tuesdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Children will play parachute games designed to encourage cooperative play, following directions, and motor skills coordination. Each class will be limited to 12 children.
The library will offer a Holiday Family Story Time titled "Who Will Guide My Sleigh Tonight?" for children of all ages with a caregiver on Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. or on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. It will feature reindeer-themed stories, songs, and a craft. Attendees may call the library to preregister.
Paws to READ will take place on Dec. 14 at 10, 10:30, and 11 a.m. Children will read to Reading Education Assistance Dogs. Readers may bring a favorite story or pick a book to read to them.
Santa will visit the library from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 7 and 14. Santa will listen to children's wishes. He will then read the book "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" at 11 a.m.
The Warwick High School Spanish Honor Society will offer a Spanish Story Time for children ages 3 to 9 at 10 a.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 21 and 28. It will feature stories, songs, and finger plays all in Spanish. Space is limited to 30 participants. To register, readers may call the library.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, for residents of Elizabeth Township, Lititz Borough and Warwick Township. Registration for winter story time sessions, including Little Steps for children ages 6 to 24 months with a caregiver, will take place at the library. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, story time registration will open to all, if openings are available. Story time programs will begin the week of Monday, Jan. 27, 2020.
