Lifeguarding Course Posted

Tel Hai Retirement Community will host an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course in its StoneCroft Aquatic Center, 4000 Tree Line Drive, Honey Brook. The course will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15; and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16.

The purpose of the course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over.

To participate, participants must be at least age 15. Participants must also be able to pass a prerequisite skills evaluation that includes a 300-yard continuous swim, treading water for 2 minutes using only the legs, and retrieving a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool.
