LIFT Classes Planned

Penn State Extension has announced sessions of LIFT, an in-person, group-based strength-training program for adults age 40 and older.

LIFT, which stands for Lifelong Improvements through Fitness Together, is designed to promote improvements in functional fitness or the ability to perform activities of daily living with ease. Sessions include an active warm-up, eight core strength training exercises, and a cool-down. The program also includes basic nutrition information with an emphasis on increased fruit and vegetable intake.

Classes will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Tuesday, March 22, to Thursday, May 19. Classes will be from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., and 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. In the Southern End, classes will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to noon at Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville.

A free informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the training room at the Farm and Home Center. All new registrants and returning registrants who have not participated since 2020 are required to attend.

The deadline to register for the program is March 8. There is a cost, but registrants should contact their insurance provider to inquire about possible reimbursement.
