The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will present its fourth concert series of the season, "Winter Romance." Two performances featuring violinist Asi Matathias will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 3 and 8 p.m. The concerts will be held at the Fulton Theatre, 12 N. Prince St., Lancaster.
The "Winter Romance" program will include Barber's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 14; Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet - Excerpts From the Second Suite," Op. 64b; and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 13, "Winter Dreams."
Matathias began playing the violin at the age of 6 and made his debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra by the age of 14. He has performed around the globe as a soloist with various orchestras and distinguished conductors. Matathias performed with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra in 2015 and will return to Lancaster under the direction of conductor Stephen Gunzenhauser.
Attendees will have an opportunity to attend the pre-concert lecture one hour before each performance.
