Lucia Will Present Lecture

Elon University sport management professor Cara Lucia will discuss how sport is thought to offer an avenue for individuals to explore divisive topics at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, in York College's DeMeester Recital Hall, 441 Country Club Road, York. Lucia will present "Leading Conversations in Divisive Times: Narratives From the World of Sport That Empower Dialogue."

Lucia is an associate professor for the sport management department in the School of Communications at Elon University in North Carolina. She is also president-elect for NIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation, an association for which she has served in various national leadership roles, including faculty for the School of Collegiate Recreation; co-convener for the Leadership Commission; facilitator for the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Summit; and member of the Strategic Planning Task Force, Research and Assessment Committee, and Governance Committee.

During her time as the co-convener for the Leadership Commission from 2012 to 2015, Lucia served as co-editor for a sourcebook titled "Student Leadership Development Through Recreation and Athletics." More than 800 NIRSA institutional members have received a copy.

The March 24 event is free and open to the public.
