Lititz United Methodist Church (LUMC), 201 E. Market St., has announced Easter services and activities during Holy Week. Each event represents a celebration of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. The community is welcome to attend.
On Maundy Thursday, April 18, a joint service with Brunnerville United Methodist Church and LUMC will begin at 7 p.m. at LUMC. The gathering will remind attendees that when Jesus was arrested, His friends and disciples fell away from Him. The service will progress from light to dark and symbolizes the various shadows that surrounded Jesus and His cross prior to His death.
On Good Friday, April 19, beginning at 7 p.m., LUMC will host a spirit-filled contemporary service where attendees will walk the road to the cross with Christ through song and film. Film clips of the movie "The Passion" will be shown.
Easter Sunday, April 21, will feature three services. At 7 a.m., there will be a dawn service in the prayer garden on the south side of the front entrance. "Sunrise Surprise" will tell the traditional Easter morning story through the eyes and words of Mary Magdalene, John, Peter, and Jesus. A pancake breakfast will follow at 7:45 a.m. in the social hall.
Easter celebrations will then be held at the normal worship hours, with traditional worship at 9 a.m. and a casual contemporary worship gathering at 10:30 a.m. The Easter celebration will be led by senior pastor Jerry McGrath as he presents an Easter sermon.
