Manada Conservancy has announced two events. A free "Health of Our Trees" program will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. at the South Hanover Township Municipal Building, 161 Patriot Way, Hershey. This presentation will provide updates on the health of key tree species in local forests and landscapes. Climate change, cultural conditions, insects, and pathogens will be discussed along with management opportunities. Beth Brantley, technical support specialist with Bartlett Tree Experts, will share some of the tools available to promote and maintain healthy conditions for trees. To register, contact Manada Conservancy at 717-566-4122 or office@manada.org.
Manada Conservancy and Dauphin County Woodland Owners Association will hold the fifth annual Walk in Penn's Woods on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. As attendees stroll through the fall foliage in the Haldeman Tract of the Weiser State Forest in Halifax, DCNR forester Andy Brought will discuss the shelterwood/overstory removal system, which is the most common harvesting practice used on state forest land. A Manada Conservancy naturalist will be present to describe flora and fauna. Registration details and directions are available at http://www.manada.org/events.
