Martin Library Posts Programs

Martin Library, 159 E. Market St., York, will offer a wide range of programming during June and July, with topics including history, health, and technology.

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Institute of Gettysburg College will kick off the summer series with a presentation about D-Day, the largest seaborne invasion in history. The program will take place Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m.

A TechTime Power Session will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. "Nutrition and the Brain" will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 2 p.m.

July will include a program by professional organizer Bobbie Dull on Saturday, July 13, at 11 a.m. The program, "How to Prioritize," will help attendees create a plan to tackle daily to-dos as well as create personal goals. Also on July 13, the York County Astronomical Society will share at 4 p.m. on the Apollo 11 moon landing for the mission's 50th anniversary.

On Sunday, July 14, at 2 p.m., Civil War historian Scott Mingus will present another session of "Sundays With Scott." Mingus will discussing Maj. Gen. Jubal A. Early's occupation of York and the hastily organized state militia that held off Confederate troops as they attempted to cross the Susquehanna River.

Additional programs in July include "Exploring Your Family Tree" on Saturday, July 20, at 2 p.m. The program will explain how to search genealogical history and will include a step-by-step tutorial for using http://www.ancestry.com.

Rounding out July will be two programs on Saturday, July 27. TechTime Power Session at 10:30 a.m. will focus on using Microsoft Word. At 2 p.m., insurance agent Polly Jones will talk about how to prepare for Medicare and insurance for later in life.
