The Lititz Public Library now has five Memory Kits available for checkout. These kits are filled with books, music CDs, and various activities for anyone who is caring for a loved one experiencing memory loss and for those who are experiencing Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other conditions that cause memory loss.
The titles of the kits are "Happy Baby," "Forest," "Sewing," "Farm," and "Sky." The included books are written as picture books for an adult audience. The music CDs include big band music, Lawrence Welk recordings, musicals, and nature sounds. The kits also include simple puzzles, reminiscence cards, match-the-pins games, fidget cuffs, Snap memory cards, and other items to engage the senses and memories. In addition, each kit comes with a "Top Tips for Caregivers" card.
Kits may be reserved by stopping in the library, calling the library at 717-626-2255, or visiting http://www.lititzlibrary.org. The kits can be checked out for two weeks at a time, and they must be picked up and returned to the Lititz Public Library.
